I have two main types of songs I write; one for inside church and one for outside. This is one for the outside.

The song aims to be a biblically faithful evangelistic song built around one of Jesus’ most important images: the two ways. The central message is intended to be clear, memorable, and accessible, especially for those with little Christian background. It has echoes of Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 7, the wisdom tradition of Proverbs, Psalm 1, and the Didache (“The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles”), which famously begins, “There are two ways, one of life and one of death.”

Verse 1:

There’s a road that’s wide and easy,
Full of pleasures full of smiles;
But in truth it’s dark and empty,
All its promises are lies.

Verse 2:
There’s a path that few will follow,
Marked by mercy, marked by grace;
Though the road is tough and narrow,
It will lead to God’s embrace.

Chorus:
Two roads, one is death and one is life
Two roads, but only one way leads to Christ
Take it from someone who knows
Who’s tried the other way
The only path through this broken world
Is the Saviour’s way.

Verse 3:
So then which road will you follow
The choice is yours to make
The one that brings real treasure
Or the one where it’s all fake?
